When Sharon Lebell was 18 years old she happened to hear a stranger play an exotic-looking trapezoid-shaped stringed instrument with small hammers. Its ethereal sound caused her to weep involuntarily and she thereby knew she must share this transcendent sound.

She taught herself to play a hammer dulcimer, an ancient instrument originating in the Middle East and China.  For most of her life Sharon has performed and composed on two one-of-a-kind super-sized 5-octave dulcimers with 106 strings. Her greatest joy is composing tunes that embody the spirit of people she loves, the awe the natural world inspires, and the innocent longings of the human heart.

Sharon is available for performance, to compose tunes to order, and guided musical meditations for retreats or yoga classes. Contact her at sharonlebellmusic@gmail.com for more information.
